Loki Season 2: Difficulties and Shifts in the MCU
Every episode of Loki makes the viewer feel like it's impossible for the next episode to surpass its predecessor, and episode 3, “1893,” definitely fits the current record and has us crazy enough if we wait a whole week to see what happens next. Going into this article, the important point is that the world tent is still in grave danger without one of its characteristics, or Miss Minutes without He Who Remains.
“1893” comes through a time portal with Rensselaer in 1868 to meet Miss Minutes in Chicago. From the episode’s jump, Miss Minutes unleashes major Fatal Attraction vibes, ending with that awesome theme. The former TVA judge and potential romantic partner of He Who Remains, who has a creepy self-aware and emotional AI camera clock, is in 1868 Chicago to make a plan. This means that the Claimant was aware that his time was running out last year and that he died with a contingency plan already on the books.
Meanwhile, Moebius and Loki are looking for a way to save everyone. In the next scene, the two-time booths are in the OB control room. He wants to make a plan. Miss Minutes is discussed, and Owen Wilson’s Mobius with a straight face asks, “How do we get a naughty little cartoon clock that doesn’t want it?” Ah, the evil cartoon watch, indeed. In the next episode, Moebius and Loki enter the 1893 Chicago World's Fair through a time door, searching for Rensselaer. There is a moment when Loki and Mobius stand to admire the wooden statues honoring the heroes of Odin, Thor and Balder. Moebius says that he sometimes forgets that Loki is one of them. Tom Hiddleston’s Loki reveals that he’s hurt by his family’s past dynamics in this episode, as he quips, “Thor’s not that tall” before walking away.
The guys spot Rensselaer in the crowd, with his Miss Creepy a few minutes later, and soon after, they catch Victor Timely's show, which reveals a small makeshift tent on stage with Mobius and Loki hurrying after him as he leaves. Loki inadvertently steps into a fellow assistant who suggests the case be brought outside. Not having time to do so, Loki uses his magic to push the man out of his way. Sylvie shows up ready to kill the Kong variant, while Miss Minutes goes all out in a Marshmallow-Man-shaped ghost watch, which acts as a convenient distraction for the crowd.
